Carrot cake smoothie

Have your cake–and drink it, too! I know what you’re thinking—OK, I don’t, I’m just projecting. But here’s what I’m thinking: do we really need smoothie posts here, fellow foodies? No, not really. But why not enjoy them here anyway? For one thing, they are oh so pretty and fun to photograph. Plus, while specific ingredients are rarely required for luscious toss-whatever-in -a -blender style recipes, it can be easy to settle into the same, albeit delicious, routines with them, especially when they’re the go-to in a hurry. Sometimes a little nudge in another direction is just the lift we didn’t know we needed.

Made only with purely nutritious ingredients, this dreamy carrot cake smoothie is bursting with all the delicious flavors of the favorite springtime dessert and a host of wellness benefits, too.  Be as liberal as you wish when it comes to sprinkling in all the warm spices of the classic treat; or, if you’re pressed for time or scant on spices, ORGANIC INDIA USA Cinnamon Spice Psyllium Pre & Probiotic Fiber can deliver all the scrumptious cinnamon warmth you need, blending beautifully with raw carrots, pineapple, and banana.

Lately I’ve really had to put in a concerted effort to mentally shift out of an instinctive fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants mode, even when the reality is that what’s least manageable is my mind, and that is in fact, with a little place for pause…more manageable than I think. F is finished with fourth grade in just two days! I’ve been just a little secretly teary every day at pickup and dropoff all year in mere anticipation of the next school year being his last for elementary school. I think that a willingly delusional part of me continues to expect to wake up to a Curious George and playdoh kind of day again, someday.

Now that we’re here at the end of the school year, though, I’m just a little less teary (and feeling a little bit guilty to say so). While I am genuinely so thrilled for more time with my boy (and feeling so lucky that he is still in for shared time), summer means compressing work into smaller, more awkward pockets again, revolving the days around another’s schedule, and letting go of any autonomy. I’m feeling bubbly with happiness and uneasy with anticipation in almost equal parts (happiness wins). All this is to say, there’s an on-the-go feeling that requires packing more into less, all around. Smoothies to the rescue!

Used in Ayurveda to cleanse and detox the large intestines, Psyllium is your digestive system’s best friend. An excellent source of both soluble and insoluble, natural dietary fiber, Psyllium nourishes beneficial gut bacteria, supporting gastrointestinal health, healthy elimination and regularity, and whole body wellbeing. ORGANIC INDIA USA Psyllium Pre & Probiotic Fibers not only offer a simple and convenient way to build Psyllium into your daily diet, they further incorporate three digestion-soothing Ayurvedic herbs as well as a strong dose of Probiotics, all working together to offer powerful support for a healthy microbiome.

In addition to Psyllium (which is optional), this brightly refreshing, simple recipe welcomes all kinds of addends, making it great for a light snack or a filling mini meal. Feel free to add in your favorite protein powder, chia seeds, a dollop of yogurt, shredded coconut, and more. Smoothies are the poster children for anything goes in the food world, after all. Whatever you choose to mix in or leave out, this shake makes it clear that cozy spice has a beautiful place in spring and all year round. xo
