Wholesome Energy Bites Trio

It’s been awhile, blog space. I’ve got so much to catch up on, starting with a short-sweet quick post on these easy, wholesomely energizing sweets. Balls. What could be a more gently bemusing start after a long pause?

Truly, isn’t it a bit ironic just how delectable and satisfying little balls can be? I'd never say anything along the lines of balls looking delicious out loud without at least cracking a smile, but these sweet temptations look and are delightful while offering true wellness benefits. Plus, we all love how easy these are to prep and "fancify": switch up your sticky sweetness, base, wellness supplements, and a limitless variety of flavorful addends of choice--just blitz and roll.

Call them what you like: energy bites, power balls, vegan truffles, and more. Whatever name suits your mood, these delectable little mouthfuls provide nutrutious replenishment, perfect for a sweetly satisfying pick-me-up post workout, on the trail, at the office, or at school. Best of all, there’s uncapped potential for powerful wellness benefits couched into infinite tempting flavors.

As capricious as our moods can be, there’s always an energy bite to suit or soothe it. And, while I’m pretty sure I can always go for a gingery carmel-like bite with healthy-joints promoting, anti-inflammatory turmeric, experimenting with new variations only enhances flavor and fun. Plus, playing around with your food is awfully fail-safe, when it comes to balls like these.

First, start with a base. My favorite is, always, Medjool dates. With their naturally chewiness and caramel taste, these regal fruits offer sticky sweet binding and bulk while being rich in fiber and phytonutrients. Next, a hearty staple like oats, nut butter, or ground flaxseed lends further structure and nutrition while balancing out the sweetness. Finally, make the real magic happen with wellness and flavor-boosting addends. Try this deceptively decadent trio, and let me know what you think: Chocolate oatmeal cookie, Coconut, Lime and Ginger with Moringa, and my favorite Golden Milk. Also, please share your favorites back, please! What balls blow your socks off, friends? Hope to try them soon. :)

Golden Milk with Turmeric

  • 1/3 Cup almond butter

  • 2/3 Cup oats

  • 2 Tablespoons ground flaxseed or shredded coconut

  • ½ Teaspoon ORGANIC INDIA Ceylon Cinnamon OR Cinnamon Spice Psyllium Pre & Probiotic

  • ½ Teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 Teaspoon ORGANIC INDIA Turmeric Formula

  • Pinch of black pepper, optional

  • ½ Teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Sesame seeds or shredded coconut for rolling (optional)

Instructions

Soak dates in warm water for ten minutes (optional if they are already soft and plump).

Drain dates, and place in a food processor with all remaining ingredients except for toppings for rolling.  Pulse to combine, adding a tablespoon of water at a time as needed until forming a sticky dough. Pause to scrape down the sides as needed. The dates should start to pull the mixture into a ball. If the dough feels too sticky, refrigerate for 5 minutes to set.

Roll into balls of approximately 1 Tablespoon each. Coat in toppings as desired. Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to ten days, or freeze up to one month.
