Orange Pomegranate Mocktail
Whole clementines and bejeweled pomegranate seeds are blended with water and topped with kombucha for this simple, festive, magical mocktail!
Merry Boxing Day, everyone! I hope you’re enjoying this season, however you celebrate the holidays, or don’t. It’s felt an odd one here on multiple fronts, including what felt like a bewilderingly speedy leadup, the heaviness in the world, and the unseasonably warm temperatures that feel both so very pleasant and just plain wrong. All of this, but Christmas spent as just our little family has still felt merry, with much that is worthy of clinking glasses—especially with the right sparkly beverages to toast with.
It doesn’t take much to jazz up a drink, and making your own concoctions is the best way to tailor not only to your tastes but also to honor your body. It’s fair to say, I’m hyper-sensitive in just about all the ways, including when it comes to what I drink. Caffeine gives me well above average strong jitters, and overly sweet beverages taste sickly, quickly. So, when I want something sparkly and special, the blender —already one of my best friends on the faily—offers a tantalizing remedy.
This refreshing citrus pomegranate bubbly is bright, sweet, tart, and tangy—perfect for the whole family, whether ringing the new year in, marking a milestone, or simply enjoying. Blending in whole fruits retains beneficial fiber, slowing sugar absorption alongside added nutrients. If preferred, go ahead and strain; if you don’t mind a little pulpiness (it’s not really pulpy, but I’d say a bit thicker on top), pour straight from the blender. I love topping with low or no added sugar kombucha (like Synergy), brining in some of that probiotic support and a burst of added flavor. Ginger or berry flavors are the perfect complement. Or, go with a sparkling or tonic water—you can’t really go wrong. Cheers to the little things that foster the bubbly glow! xo
