Ginger Citrus Mule Mocktail
Pumpkins aren’t the only ones amplifying autumn’s palette with captivating orange! This crisp, tantalizing mocktail melds substitutes orange juice for lime in a citrusy take on a classic mule.
Happy Halloweekend! Are we still celebrating, or are we calling the holiday season officially on? Either way, this zingy, sophisticated non-alcoholic refreshment is ready for celebrating! One of my favorite Organic India teas, Tulsi Turmeric Ginger, adds earthy, warm, and piquant notes to this booze-less beverage, enhancing flavor while offering a wellness boost. Other teas of choice will swap in superbly, too, however. Get playful!
Traditionally, a Moscow mule is made with vodka, lime, and spicy ginger beer. As well as opting for bright orange sweetness, this version replaces the ginger beer with ginger-flavored kombucha, retaining that piquant ginger lift while reducing sugar –especially when choosing a no-added/low-sugar kombucha—and delivering gut-friendly probiotics. If you prefer the peppery spice of ginger beer, however, it’s a simple 1-1 swap and equally delicious. Enhancing the overall taste and nutritional profile even more, this cuts back on the bubbly while adding Tulsi Turmeric Ginger Tea to the delightful blend.
Having Halloween fall on a Friday night was frightfully delightful! We are so lucky our son and his friends still want us parents to join on the trick-or-treating, with appropriate distance in the street, of course. We’ve made a tradition of going with close friends for quite a few years running now, and we know that time is running out. My inner middle schooler was a little nervously anticipating awkward, unspoken looks accusing me of helicoptering by still being there, but it didn’t happen. Actually, a whole bunch of big grown-up kids were out with their own big kids…even a few who were possibly on their own? Which is absolutely ok by me. Hanging onto play and letting go of what other people think is key to health and happiness.
Now that Halloween is over, I can’t pretend I’m not relieved. The scary side seemed a little bit scarier this year, and one month of skeletons and ghosts in the yard is plenty for me. Besides, all the sugar, even in the leadup! This year, we won’t have any debate in our house around how much candy to keep/eat, though. F had some unexpected, scarily eye-opening revelations after choosing of his own accord to research what was in his treats. He was already weeding out treats with gelatin from among the typically modest “possibly vegan” pile. Now he’s discovered cochineal dye, and that newfound insight was nauseating and impactful. I felt horrible for him at first…and then I thought, I don’t eat products with any of this stuff when I can help it, and I don’t feel deprived at all, so that felt better. In any case, we may be taking a trip to purchase a few trusted plantbased specials this weekend to take the edge off the disappointment anyway.
No need for sugary syrups in this beautiful kid-friendly but adult-worthy medley of ingredients! This mocktail shines with natural coziness and citrus sunshine. One reason I love Organic India’s Tulsi Turmeric Ginger Tea is the way it brings together the warmth of Turmeric, Ginger, and Cinnamon with a base of powerful adaptogenic herb Tulsi (Holy Basil). The potent, flavorful combo is a soothing invitation all on its own, helping to boost the body’s inherent immune response while supporting natural detoxification. In tandem with the other simple ingredients, this mocktail offers just-right spice and sparkle as a happy hour refresher or a delectable zero-proof toast for the holiday season. Enjoy!
