Craving a creamy pick-me-up? Any time of day, consider trading up a would-be latte for a delectable Spiced Turmeric Lassi instead. I just posted the other day gleefully welcoming Soup Season, but—while yes, Soup Season is here, our days have been warm! Cooling (not cold) yet cozy, this beverage hits just right.

With limitless flavor profiles from sweet to salty, refreshing, cooling lassis are popular year-round. Originating from the Punjab region around 1000 BC,  the blended drink is celebrated for its Ayurvedic healing properties, energizing while calming for the digestive system and the mind. Being yogurt-based, the beloved beverage is naturally a powerhouse of probiotics, bolstering gut health, digestion, and immunity. It’s also rich in essential nutrients like calcium and protein.

The Perfect Golden Spice Blend

The quickest, simplest version of this already easy refresher utilizes Organic India’s Spiced Turmeric Latte mix. As well as offering a delicious, caffeine-free alternative to your go-to espresso, this mix pairs beautifully with plantbased yogurt for golden milk lassi magic.  Just the right mixture of earthy warmth of turmeric—known for its incredible anti-inflammatory properties—plus warming Cinnamon, Ginger, and Cardamom deliver perfectly balanced spicy notes. If, however, you want to put together your own spice blend from scratch, feel free to swap in ground turmeric, a teaspoon of fresh ginger, and a pinch each of cardamom and cinnamon.

A couple of optional ingredients are listed in this simple recipe. The truth is, between earthy golden turmeric, creamy plant-based yogurt, and something for sweetness, you can’t go wrong! I add a little unsweetened plant milk for pourability, but feel free to leave out or add to reach the consistency for you. Go with banana and date, or pick just one, leaving out the date and sticking with one banana, or foregoing banana and adding in an extra date if preferred. Both dates and bananas are excellent sweeteners rich in potassium and antioxidants. Dates offer a stronger fiber boost with a hint of caramel, while bananas are more easily digestible with a gentler impact on blood sugar.

While hints of winter are quietly waltzing into the edges of our days, fall is still in full swing, aglow with blazing colors and soothing with cozy scents. When daytime temperatures hold strong, though, a cool lassi with warm spice couldn’t be more welcome. Add a few ice cubes if for something extra chill, or leave them out altogether. However you blend, it only takes a minute for a holistic experience that brings on the glow from the inside out. Enjoy! xo
